What do I need to get started?
To qualify for a nonprofit merchant account your organization must be a registered nonprofit and may be required to provide all or some of the following documentation: • Confirmation of your tax-exempt status with the IRS, CRA or Companies House/Charity Commission/VAT • Verification of a bank account for deposits with a pre-printed void check • Financial statements to confirm your current and past financial history For more information or to discuss your specific setup requirements call us at 1.888.955.5455 or email us at iats@iatspayments.com.
How long will it take to create my account?
Once you complete the online form, it usually takes between one and two business days to approve your application and set up your iATS Payments merchant account. If we require additional information, the processing time may be longer.
What if I need my account right away?
If you are hosting an event within the next three days, please notify us immediately at 1.888.955.5455 (Option 2) or iats@iatspayments.com.
How will I know when my account has been created?
When your account is ready to use, you will receive an email with your login credentials and a few tips to help you get started.
Why do you need my SIN or the last four digits of my SSN?
Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) is the easiest and fastest way for us to verify that you are who you say you are. Keep in mind that if you choose not to supply this information, it may take us longer to process your application and get your account up and running.
How should I estimate my largest expected transaction amount and monthly volume?
For largest expected transaction amount, enter the largest dollar value you expect to process in a single transaction. For largest expected monthly volume, enter the total dollar value you expect to process in your busiest month. If you’re not sure, please provide your best estimate based on your last year.
What happens after I click continue on the online form?
If you are a Canadian organization, you’ll have an opportunity to review the terms and conditions. Click agree or accept to submit your application and begin the account creation process. We’ll send you an email confirming your application submission, along with a summary of your processing rates and fees. If you are a US organization, a summary of your processing rates and fees will appear. Once you have reviewed and agreed to the terms and conditions, click agree or accept to submit your application and begin the account creation process. If you’re a European organization, you’ll have an opportunity to review the terms and conditions. Click agree or accept to submit your application and begin the account creation process. We’ll send you an email confirming your application submission, along with a summary of your processing rates and fees. Additionally, we need to include supporting documents: bank statement (proof of bank, bank letter), ID for the signing officer, proof of the address of signing officer, government issued proof of status (Companies House nr., VAT nr. etc.), list of trustees. From the time application is complete, it takes 4-6 business weeks to get an account in British Pounds.

How do I make updates to my account?
For updates to your Contact details or Address changes, log in to your customer portal, look for the Help tab, click on Forms and select the form(s) based on your specific request. For updates to your Bank Information for funds deposit or debit or fees, email your request to our Customer Care department at iatscs@iatspayments.com. To change your password, email your request to our Customer Care department at iatscs@iatspayments.com. Please note that the email needs to come from an authorized contact name in the account.
Do I need to obtain my own credit card merchant account?
No. When you sign up with iATS we will provide you with your own unique merchant account. There is no need for you to spend months negotiating with individual credit card companies and payment processing vendors. We take care of all that for you.
Can I have a single merchant account that services both iATS credit card processing and ACH?
Absolutely!
Which credits cards can I accept?
iATS allows you to accept all of the major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
What does my organization have to do to enable ACH on our iATS account?
For existing iATS Clients: Contact our Sales department at 1.888.955.5455 (Option 2) in order to expand your contract to cover ACH Processing. First, we will verify the deposit account to be used for ACH processing. Then once your organization has signed the ACH agreement, it typically takes 3-4 business days for approval of the document. Once the request is approved, one of our Customer Care representatives will send you an email advising ACH has been added to your account. For New IATS Clients: Contact our Sales department at 1.888.955.5455 (Option 2) where we will walk you, step-by-step, through the ACH application. The following supporting documentation may be required: • Void Check of the desired deposit account or a letter from your financial institution verifying your Legal or DBA name, Routing transit number and deposit account number • Official proof of nonprofit status Upon return of the required documentation, it typically takes 3-4 business days for approval. Once the request is approved, one of our Customer Care representatives will fax/email your new ACH sub-code and password.
Can I use iATS just for ACH processing and not credit card processing, or vice-versa?
Yes, you are free to use iATS for processing your credit card transactions only, for ACH only or for both.
Can I process transactions remotely?
Absolutely. iATS Payments' services are web-based so you can process transactions 24/7 wherever you have a computer and an internet connection.
Is ACH supported for “cross-border” transfers of funds where one bank is in the U.S. and the other in Canada?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. If your organization has a bank account in the U.S. or Canada, you can only accept ACH transfers from donors who also have banks in the same country as yours.
What about ACH in overseas countries such as the United Kingdom and European Union?
iATS offers ACH services in the United Kingdom.
